Choosing a Safe Location

Patio Plus
heaters may be installed on a combustible surface.
If the heater is installed near a combustible wall
or under a combustible ceiling, the minimum
clearances to combustibles described in the
drawing to the right must be adhered to. The
installation must adhere to all local and
applicable codes. In the absence of local codes,
it must adhere to the current CAN/B149 in Canada
or ANSI 2223.1 in the United States. For outdoor
installations the heater must be installed on a
firm level surface. For indoor installations the
heater must be electrically interlocked to an
exhaust fan with an air-proving switch. The
exhaust fan must provide exhaust in the amount of
300 c.f.m. for every 100,000 BTU's of input
Assembly Instructions
Patio Plus Portable Model
Step 1: Secure "L" brackets to weight base with nuts
and bolts provided. Secure post socket assemble to
top of "L" brackets using the hardware provided.
Place decorative cover over post socket assembly;
Step 2: Remove pipe / hose
assembly from package and thread pipe end into
heater head. Use two pipe wrenches to tighten pipe
to heater. Suitably approved gas pipe sealant should
be used on this joint. Slide pipe / hose heater head
assembly into the post and secure with four screws
(provided) into predrilled holes on top end of post.
Step 3: Insert hose down
through hole in the post socket assembly and slide
post down onto socked. Slide the decorative cover up
around the post to allow access to tank storage
area. Secure regulator to end of hose assembly and
tighten with a wrench. Suitably approved pipe
sealant should be used at this joint. Secure
reflector to top of heater head with nuts provided.
Set tank (not included) into place. Screw the
coupling nut on the regulator into the tank outlet
valve.

Permanent Mounting Model
Step
1: Determine a safe and appropriate location for the
base to be installed (see section choosing a safe
location).
Step 2: Secure the base to the
deck or concrete pad with appropriate fasteners (lag
bolts into concrete / nuts and bolts into deck,
etc).
The base must be securely
fastened to deck or concrete pad to prevent
tip-over.
Step 3: Secure heater head to
flexible hose protruding from the top of the post.
Use two pipe wrenches to securely tighten. A
suitably approved gas pipe sealant should be used
for all gas connections. Slide assembly into top of
post and secure with four screws (provided) into
predrilled holes.
